The twelfth studio album from MxPx arrived in July via a Kickstarter Campaign as they are currently not signed to a particular label.

It's their first album of brand new material since Plans Within Plans released 2012 on Rock City.

Life on the road, love, mad weekends, friendship, family are just some of the themes that come through the 11 tracks on the Self-Titled album. It's not rocket science just great Punk Pop tunes (not everything has to be a great debate about the state of the world!).

Twenty Four years down the road and MxPx are still out hitting stages and I would imagine this latest batch of songs will be going down a storm.

MxPx Respond to "Fan" Comments

MxPx, now in their 26th year of life, are getting ready to unleash their crowd-funded Self-Titled new record, their tenth studio album by the way if you were counting.

They released a brand new video for a song from the new self-produced work entitled Let's Ride. The album was recorded in their hometown of Bremerton, Washington. It will be available as a Download and I think the CD is only available to those who ordered it on the Kickstarter site for the album. Not totally sure about the Vinyl and what kind of quantities it will exist in.

 (Tom, Mike and Yuri)

A bit later than usual today as I had a few things to do so if you have been waiting for today's post I thank you for your patience.

There's a few more links below as well where you can listen to more from MxPx.

Ten Years and Running was the second major compilation by MxPx. It's not a "Greatest Hits" as such but more a casual glance over the first ten years of the life of the band.

Their first compilation was Let It Happen in 1998 (and reissued as a Deluxe Version in 2006 which included a DVD of 12 Promos and a few extra tracks that were not on the original release which meant a few six tracks from the original were removed).

I was recently listening to a re-recording of their Life In General album to celebrate its 20th Anniversary (it sounds pretty tidy to me) and thought it would be good to include an MxPx compilation here.

Two new songs were included on the album (My Mistake and Running Away) and a brand new recording of their classic single Punk Rawk Show (that one also appears on the excellent Acoustic Collection from 2014).

Two years prior to the release of Ten Years and Running, MxPx had released what I think was their best album, The Ever Passing Moment, which included the single Responsibility. That album reached #56 in the US Charts and and was the highest placed album until 2003's brilliant Before Everything & After (#51 and their highest placed album of their career). The 2005 album Panic is another favourite album of mine.

Let The Day Begin...Let The Day Start!: Day 172 - MxPx

At The Show - MxPx
Tooth 'n' Nail
Produced by Stephen Egerton and Bill Stevenson
Released 27th July 1999

This is dedicated to my favourite kids
from Larne, Northern Ireland.
They know who they are!

At The Show was the sixth album from MxPx and their first and only official live album release. It was recorded at The 930 Club, Washington, DC on August 24, 1998 and the TLA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 25, 1998. The band were out on tour promoting their latest album at the time, Slowly Going The Way of the Buffalo and also their compilation Let It Happen which were both released in 1998.

If you saw the MxPx post from a few days ago you might have already seen some footage of the band live in action. If not click on the link above and check 'em out.

This reminds me a little of when I was a lot younger and going to Punk Shows and you'd get this full on in your face performance with hardly a breath inbetween! Twenty Three songs crammed into forty eight minutes and 43 seconds - that's the way to do it!

It's probably not an album that is well known at all but it is one of my favourites and it seemed good to go with something that's maybe a little different from some of the other choices I might make this week (I have not actually written a list down but have rather just flicked through my collection finding things that get me excited to hear again). By the way there is no order of preference.

Enjoy.

MxPx - Both Ends Burning (Documentary 2011)

MxPx is an American punk rock band from Bremerton, Washington founded in 1992 as Magnified Plaid. The band has skate punk and pop punk leanings, with connections to the pop punk scene.

The Classic Line-Up is Mike Herrera on lead vocals and bass, Tom Wisniewski on guitar and backing vocals, and Yuri Ruley on drums. The band's discography includes eleven studio albums, seven EPs, five compilation albums, a live album, a VHS tape, three DVD's and twenty three singles.

I hadn't actually seen the Both Ends Burning Documentary before today and as some kind soul posted it on You Tube I thought maybe I'd share it today.

I've also thrown in a couple of shows for good measure one from 2000, the other 2008 and both feature the classic MxPx line-up.
