Bonnie Raitt - Slipstream April 2012 Release

Seven years is a long time between albums but 62 year old Bonnie Raitt can be forgiven for the delay after dealing with deaths of family members and a friend. She spent the time listening to music rather than seeking out songs to sing for a possible new album (her previous album 'Souls Alike' was released in 2005 on Capitol Records and had reached the Top 20 in the USA). So a new album, and a new label, set up by herself called Redwing (though the album is released on Proper in the UK), and a fine bunch of songs written by the likes of Bob Dylan (two songs from his 'Time Out of Mind' album - 'Standing in the Doorway' and 'Million Miles'), Gerry Rafferty (his song 'Right Down the Line' is the lead single from the album, Paul Brady and Louden Wainwright III is now finally ready to go. Released yesterday in the UK and today in the USA.

Bonnie Raitt is due to start an 80 day tour in May 2012. So good to have her back doing what she does best. There's not an awful lot of Blueswomen out there and this album is proof enough that in a career that has spanned more than 40 years that she's still got it.
