The debut album by Elvis Costello was released on this day back in 1977. It peaked at #14 in the UK Album Chart.
'Less Than Zero' and 'Alison' had been released as singles prior to the release of the album without any chart success and even the single of '(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes' didn't do well but did somehow mange to get him on Top of the Pops. It wasn't until his fourth single release 'Watching the Detectives' that some chart success began to come his way. The single peaked at #15.
