The follow-up to Low and the second in Bowie's Berlin Trilogy (the third album Lodger didn't appear until May 1979) "Heroes" was actually the only one of the three that was wholly recorded in Berlin. This was David Bowie's Twelfth Studio Album.
The album spent 26 weeks on the album chart in the UK and reached #3. Have to say that I was astounded that the single of "Heroes" only reached #24! For some odd reason I always assumed that the song was a massive hit, Top Ten even, so it was very interesting to see that it wasn't at all. Back then I was not too much of a chart watcher so this is probably why this piece of knowledge has taken me a little by surprise! Take note that Sound and Vision from the Low album reached #3 in the UK Singles Chart, yet "Heroes" is a way superior song I think!
In 1977 NME named "Heroes" as Album of the Year.
