Happy Birthday Dave Hemingway of The South

Born on this day in 1960 Dave Hemingway former drummer of The Housemartins, lead vocalist (along with Paul Heaton) of The Beautiful South, and current frontman for The South (formerly known as The New Beautiful South).

Aside from being a frontman Dave has released one Solo album for Download only entitled 'Hello Cruel World' (2006) - from which the first link is from.

Dave took the drum stool for The Housemartins after the departure of Hugh Whitaker and promptly found himself in the studio for the recording of their second album 'The People Who Grinned Themselves To Death'. When The Housemartins ended he became a founding member of The Beautiful South in 1988. The band survived until 2007 when they split up due to "musical similarities"!

In 2008 Dave Hemingway, Alison Wheeler and Dave Stead joined together under the banner of The New Beautiful South (which later became The South in 2010). They have gigged constantly and even released a brand new album in 2012 entitled 'Sweet Refrain'.
