Alphabet Beats #149: V is for....Vaughan as in Stevie Ray

V is for

Twenty Five years after his tragic death Stevie Ray Vaughan was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2015 alongside his fantastic backing band Double Trouble.

It's amazing to think that he only really had a short recording career - Seven years! What set him off on that particular journey was a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982 and then the release in 1983 of his Debut Album 'Texas Flood'. No one could have imagined that his life would be cut short, passing away at the age of 35.

Springsteen has a line in 'Thunder Road' that says "I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk" and listening to SRV you can hear an amazing voice when he plays. You can hear it cry, you can hear it laugh, you can hear it whisper with great gentleness amid a cacophony of sound, and you can hear it shout loud in full voice as if the life of the one playing it depended on it!
