Prior to becoming The Headboys the Edinburgh based band had been called Badger and had released a couple of unsuccessful singles on MCA Records in 1977.

They are probably known as a "One Hit Wonder" band due to their excellent 1979 single The Shape of Things to Come that spent 8 weeks on the UK Chart rising as far as #45 but it did get them a spot on Top of the Pops. They also had a hit with it in Holland and appeared on Dutch TV  performing it (well, miming it!).

The Debut Album was not a chart success here in the UK but it did chart in America and Canada. The band opted not to tour there and to record a follow up album that didn't see the light of day (until 2013 when The Lost Album was finally released) and the band split up after a number of unsuccessful singles.

I don't know an awful lot about the band at all and I do know that their drummer Davy Ross had passed away in 2010 and Calum Malcolm has had a fairly prolific career as a Studio Engineer and Producer working with the likes of  The Blue Nile, Capercaillie, Clannad, Emily Barker, Fish, The Go-Betweens, Hue and Cry, Maire Brennan, Nazareth, Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, The Fire Engines, Mark Knopfler, Prefab Sprout, Runrig, Steve Adey, Kris Drever, The Silencers, Simple Minds and Wet Wet Wet. Whilst Barb Jungr, Claire Martin, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, RSNO, and Carol Kidd are others whom Malcolm has worked alongside in the Castlesound studio that he owns near Edinburgh.

Bob Heatlie has written hit songs for Shakin' Stevens (I'm sure we can forgive him for that!). He also wrote the song Japanese Boy that was a #1 hit for Scottish Singer Aneka...I guess you have to pay the bills somehow!

He has also been involved providing music for Children's Television. He is the writer of the Theme Tune for The Trap Door!
