NPR Tiny Desk Concert: Nina Diaz + others

It's been a little while since I last checked out NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts so here's a couple of things that have interested me lately that they have posted.

Nina Diaz was the main one that interested me as my friend Tim Leonard is a huge fan of Girl In A Coma and I remember liking very much their Tiny Desk Concert that they performed way back in early 2012.

That's followed by another couple of ladies with cool voices and tunes to go with them!

And then as a little bonus some links for concerts from the 2016 Newport Folk Festival.

Midwest Farmer's Daughter - Margo Price (March 2016)

I always like finding something that's new to my ears and watching The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon I stumbled across Margo Price performing Four Years of Chances.

Although her album has been out since March it's the first time I have heard of her (I seem to have missed her when she played on Later...with Jools Holland earlier in May as well).

I know very little about her seeing that it was only about an hour ago that I watched Fallon and rewatched her clip a few times.

I think I'm going to investigate further and go and buy the album. For the moment though, if Margo Price is new to your ears also, I hope you enjoy it.

Here's a little bit more info from NPR:

Tedeschi Trucks Band: Tiny Desk Concert

Tedeschi Trucks Band are a band I've not featured on the blog before. A friend of mine shared a bunch of albums with me a few years back of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi's respective bands  and I was quite taken with them. In 2010 the husband and wife team but their Solo careers on hold and put together this band uner the banner of Tedeschi Trucks Band and have released albums together since.

Posted at the tail end of last month on NPR here's their Tiny Desk Concert

Bob Mould - Tiny Desk Concert 11th August 2014

Bob Mould came alone, except for his 1987 Lake Placid Blue Fender Stratocaster. We provided the Epiphone Blues Custom 30 amp, which he promptly cranked. Needless to say, he announced his own Tiny Desk Concert without using the paging system.Mould isn't a shy man — his power chords will tell you that — but he's humble and gentle. Many know Mould from his days with Hรผsker Dรผ, an awesome punkish band from Minnesota that laid the groundwork for the Pixies and more. His subsequent work with Sugar managed to do something none of his other records did so well: Copper Blue sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Beauty and Ruin is solo album No. 11 for Mould, and as you can hear from these songs, he's all amped up and ready to go. Sweaty and happy, he makes "Makes No Sense At All" his final calling card — classic Hรผsker Dรผ. --BOB BOILEN

NPR Tiny Desk Concerts

I'm always fascinated by musical performances that are done in small spaces and none can be smaller than at NPR with their Tiny Desk Concerts which have been on the go since 2008. Some of the artists I have to admit I haven't heard of before but I thought it would be cool to bring together in one place a mix of those concerts covering a wide spectrum of musical genres. Click on the links to enjoy the music.

Tiny Desk Concerts from NPR's All Songs Considered features your favorite musicians performing at Bob Boilen's desk in the NPR Music office.
