The Darling Buds - Acoustic Set (April 2016)

On The Darling Buds fb page they posted one of the videos from this performance back in April on Record Store Day. As I'm a curious chap I went searching to see if there were any other videos from their little acoustic set and was well happy to have found a nice soul called Country Mile had posted 9 videos in a playlist from the event. I don't know if this was the complete performance but it will do nicely whatever the case.

Let The Day Begin...Let The Day Start!: Day 40 - The Darling Buds

For their 29th Anniversary last year The Darling Buds played two nights at The Lexington in London (the sound is a bit rough but here's a wee video of the "encores" from the first night), I was given the gift of a weekend ticket for the both shows and got to see the one of the bands that I had a real fondness for back in the late 80's for the first time since maybe 1990. Those two nights were so brilliant.

This year as they are celebrating their 30th Anniversary they have arranged at show at the 100 Club in London and will perform their debut album Pop Said... in its entirity. If you can get along it's  Saturday 2nd April 2016. Go onto their Facebook page for more information regarding tickets etc.

This month is the 27th Anniversay of it's release on Epic Records and I thought why not give it a blast today.

Alphabet Beats #023: The Letter D is for...The Darling Buds

D is for...

The Darling Buds

The Darling Buds formed in Caerleon near Newport, South Wales, in 1986, by the then 19-year-old Andrea Lewis. Their debut single, "If I Said", was released on February 1987 and was well received. The group re-released the single on an established label, Native Records, receiving radio play on John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show. Signing with Sony in 1988, several singles preceded their critically acclaimed 1989 debut LP, Pop Said...

Click on the links to enjoy the sparkle! I cannot vouch for the quality of all the live videos, some are good, some are a bit rough but I hope that does spoil it too much for you.

The Return of The Darling Buds!!

Long-defunct U.K. indie-pop outfit The Darling Buds will reunite for the second time in 20 years next spring for a one-off concert in London that’s being billed as “Pop Said… Again,” a reference to the group’s 1988 debut Pop Said, which featured the singles “Shame On You (1988),” “Burst (1988)” and “Hit the Ground (1988).”

The concert is set for April 19 at London’s Borderline, and finds frontwoman Andrea Lewis joined by original bassist Chris McDonogh and Matt Gray, who played guitar on 1992′s Erotica album. According to the show’s promoter, the Borderline performance “truly is planned as a one-off gig” and that there are no further touring plans for the band.
Since the band’s breakup in 1993, Lewis previously only has reunited the group once, performing a pair of shows in 2010.
Tickets for the Boderline concert are on sale now. Click on The Links to enjoy the music.
