Rewind: Gene Vincent Rocks! And The Blue Caps Roll (1958)

Gene Vincent Rocks! And The Blue Caps Roll was the third album on Capitol Records by Gene Vincent and I think the first one to be credited to just Gene (even though The Blue Caps get a mention in the album title). Both Blue Jeanbop (1956) and Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps (1957) are credited to Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps (though on the labels on both albums it says Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps).

There's a few really good tracks on this. Opener Brand New Beat is pretty cool. I particulary like his take on You'll Never Walk Alone, and You Belong To Me and Your Cheatin' Heart as well are other favourites.

Rewind 1956: Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps Release Be-Bop-A-Lula

Alongside 'Rock Around the Clock' by Bill Haley and the Comets, 'Rave On' by Buddy Holly, 'Jailhouse Rock' by Elvis Presley, and 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On' by Jerry Lee Lewis I would have to say that 'Be-Bop-A-Lula' is right up there as one of The Greatest Rock and Roll Singles of All Time!

It was released on Capitol Records on this day in 1956.

According to Wikipedia 'Be-Bop-A-Lula' was the B-Side of 'Woman Love' but most other places state that it was actually the A-Side.
