Gary Law - One Guitar (For LHS) and Interview

Doug: How exciting was it for you to make this version of One Guitar?

Gary: We recorded it a little while ago and it was good fun to record a cover version and for such a great and worthwhile cause too.

Doug: Where did you film the video?

Gary:  The video was filmed in a place called The Watermark Complex near Cirencester
where my manager hides out. It was filmed by a talented camera man/director who works for the BBC named Jeff Smart. He did it for free because he thinks it's a good cause too.

Doug: Nice to see that your band Lowlife supported you on the making of the song, what are the band up to at the moment?

Gary: It was actually recorded as LowLife and not as a solo song but unfortunately after our last show in Shirenewton in July we broke up. As a result I filmed the video alone so we could release the song officially. We haven't fallen out and are great friends. It was mainly due to a lack of interest in the band. For bands that play original material at the level we were at there are very few places to perform. It's a frustrating thing as we had started writing a new album. The first album didn't sell particularly well and we had to weigh up the financial aspects too. Studio time is expensive and as we are signed to an indie label for distribution etc we have to finance ourselves. It would take a long long time to make another album and we have other things we all need to do. Lyn, Lee and Steve are in a covers band that play locally. I'm in the middle of recording my third solo album in my studio at home which hopefully Lee and Kev from LowLife are going to contribute. Steve also plays drums in Welsh legends Budgie and there is a chance that they may be doing something soon too.

Doug: Why should folks give their support to Love Hope Strength?

Gary: Many people's lives are affected by cancer and Love Hope Strength's mission is to save lives. They don't fund cancer research, they use funds to purchase medical equipment and supplies, raise awareness through special events, documentaries and media, build cancer centers and raise awareness and recruit potential donors to the organ and bone marrow registers. It's a worthwhile cause and that's why I'm involved.
