What begun as an exercise of re-connection with a returning former band member soon turned into something else altogether and that's part of the magic of this collection of ten songs from Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie.

Joined in the studio by John McVie and Mick Fleetwood, a full house of Fleetwood Mac is only scuppered by the absence of Stevie Nicks. Recording began in 2014 where eight songs were recorded and then it took  a back seat to the Fleetwood Mac On With The Show Tour.

Stevie Nicks had promised to get back into the studio with the band but instead opted to go out on tour in support of her 24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault album and that set band recording back but the decision was taken by Buckingham and McVie to release what they had recorded thus far as a Duo. Two more songs were added late 2016 and the album was announced in January of this year.

Five of the songs were written by Buckingham (the album opener, Sleeping Around The Corner, had originally been issued as a bonus track for the iTunes release of the Seeds We Sow album in 2011; In My World, Love Is Here To Stay, Lay Down For Free and On With The Show - which had been written prior to McVie's return to Fleetwood Mac), three are co-writes between Buckingham/McVie (Feel About You, Red Sun and Too Far Gone) and Christine offers up two songs penned by herself (Game of Pretend and Carnival Begin). Both sing on each other's songs and they really do sound great together.

I think this is an album I'm going to keep coming back to in the next few months or so because it has a great feel to it, good musicianship, quality songwriting, and hey, Christine McVie is one of the finest and underrated singers on the planet and Lindsey Buckingham is a force to be reckoned with as a creator of fine art. All in all if you like these two as part of Fleetwood Mac I think you are going to enjoy them making music together as a Duo.
