The Civil Wars - The Civil Wars (August 2013)
I really have no idea how on earth The Civil Wars managed to put together this second album when you consider that last year they were in the middle of a European tour and hours after playing The Roundhouse (watch Poison and Wine here) in London they posted a message on their facebook page that said the tour was being cancelled due to "internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition."
Joy Williams recently spoke to the Associated Press and she said, "John Paul and I aren't speaking right now but to me that doesn't determine the outcome of the band because if we're not speaking we can't determine the outcome of the band at this moment," she says. "So the other elephant in the room is what's happening with the band? The reality is I'm not even quite sure."
After the hiatus began, Producer Charlie Peacock became something of a musical go-between and White has not spoken publicly about the album.
"John Paul does not want to talk, but he is very proud of the record," Peacock said. "John Paul is a serious artist. I can guarantee you that this record would not be coming out if he were not proud of it."
