On this day in history, 1982 to be precise The humble CD came bursting onto the scene. The above album by Billy Joel was the first ever released CD (the 1981 album 'The Visitors' by ABBA was the first CD to be manufactured). The first ever CD player was the Sony CDP-101 also released on October 1st 1982.
Our lives have never quite been the same since!
